Pavestones

Installing pavestones around your home will add both value and elegance and should definitely be consider when planning to remodel a driveway, walkway, patio or pool deck. Pave stones can be used in just about any application, including steps, patios, driveways, landscape mow strips, driveway accents or banding, pool coping, walkways and the list goes on.

Every pavestone project project should be approached methodically and should take things like functionality, accessibility and existing elements into consideration. Think about your current landscape, what do you like or dislike about it. Pavestones come in a plethora of shapes and sizes – manufacturers like RCP Block in San Diego, Angelus, Belgard, Ackerstone and Orco offer basic, tumbled, designer and specialty pavers. An Antique Cobble pavers is considered a standard pavestone and is at the bottom of the pricing spectrum, and are the most often purchased stone by home owners. These pavers come in a variety of colors and are the most affordable option if your paver project is on a tight budget.

Tumbled and designer pavers usually come in a three or four stone package with a wide range in laying pattern capabilities. You do have the option of tumbling an antique cobble pavestone if you like the antique cobble’s look. This typically is less expensive that going with a 3 or 4 stone package.

Specialty pavestones are typically tumbled and are rated for commercial vehicle (such as city operated garbage trucks) use with an 80mm thickness. If you plan on driving a motor home or other vehicle in excess of 8,000 – 10,000lbs, it is reccomended to consider a specialty stone.

Pavestones are becoming more and more affordable as they get more and more popular. Their benefits sweep those of concrete and asphalt and offer a much warmer look and feel in a pavement. when concrete was the default material used in residential paving, it was never thought of as a critical design feature, but more of a functional part of the design. Pavestones are a critical design feature and often are the most heavily weighed in the design process.
