Without doubt, the single most important skill that every golfer wants to achieve is to be able to hit a golf ball straight. It’s absolutely no fun being in the rough and wasting shots trying for a miraculous recovery.

The best place to be on every golf course is on the short grass in the middle of the fairway. To achieve that, you need to be able to hit a straight shot.

To hit the ball straight, it is mostly about your set up and grip. Sure some other factors may come into consideration, but if you can get your set up and grip right, then you are off to a pretty good start.

With the set up, ensure that the feet, hips, and shoulders are in line with the target. If all those are in line, and the club face is at right angles to that line, you should avoid a hook or slice.

Make sure your grip is not too strong, a good smooth back swing and you will give yourself every chance of hitting a straight shot and playing better golf.
