The most popular holiday in the United States is of course the Christmas holiday. During this period many people are looking for ways that openly show their holiday spirit. It seems that the most popular methods to do this is with home outdoor Christmas decorations. But there are a few key guidelines and rules that should be followed when considering the decorating.
It is quite important to ensure that you have the right balance of outdoor decorations. The size of your decs and how they fit all together should be considered, the bigger is certainly not always the better. There are some very large decorations available that can cover a lot of ground and in moderation with other sized displays they can look wonderful, but have too many and it can start to look obtrusive and gaudy.
Overall it’s not the actual size that is so important, it’s the relative size of all your decorations. The sizes are not relative if you have a three foot Father Christmas next to a seven foot Rudolf the reindeer and next to an even bigger snowman. You will not want all your Christmas garden decoration to be the same size but ensuring that they a relative to each other will make it all more visually appealing.
Create a unified vision. That really means for example, don’t put a Rudolf right next to a nativity manger display. You don’t have to stick to just one type of theme for your decorative displays, but just separate them into different cohesive areas.
Consider these suggestions when your doing your outdoor Christmas decorating this year. Unified displays that are created in themed and scaled way will impress the neighborhood and not overwhelm it. It does not matter if you do not use all your decorations, you can maybe then have different themes the next year with the ones not used. Just remember, sometimes less is more to have classy looking outdoor Xmas lights and decoration displays.
