Great work out with Mixed Martial Arts

Probably the fastest growing sport in the world right now is Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA. The big MMA leagues are in the media constantly with their superstars, and pay per view big show events. As a result, MMA gyms are popping up all over the world, and more and more people are trying out MMA work out for the first time.

The sport has been stigmatized for its brutality, but when you look at what basic MMA training is you will see that brutality has little to do with it. The sport is based on a variety of martial arts, as the name suggests, and mixing these skills properly makes a good martial artist.

The basic disciplines that have driven the sport are Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Boxing and Thai boxing, and Wrastlin (not the WWE kind, although the current UFC champion is a former “fake wrestling” star). Learning MMA consists of training these, or other, disciplines, either all at once (intermediate and advanced) or separately (beginners).

If you are afraid you will get hurt you can rest assured that all gyms run professionally have strict rules as to how hard one spars or casually train. Injuries in MMA are comparable, if not lower, than many mainstream sports like soccer, football and basketball.

Try an MMA class today, and get the work out of your lifetime!
