Grants and scholarships are another option to consider while in school. Maintaining good grades are important to getting these since there is a great deal of competition for them. All the big scholarships and grants have everyone competing for them but there are many smaller scholarships and grants that are not advertised nor very well known and these are good ones to look into.

These smaller less well known grants and scholarships usually come from local businesses. To find out about them ask questions and check out public records. Go to local community groups, business associates and union halls and ask if they have scholarship programs and what the requirements are. Just a few smaller scholarships will go as far as one large grant or scholarship.
