Morning Allergy Symptoms
It can be hard to get away from allergies in the spring time. Flowers are beginning to bloom, grass shoots are starting to grow again. And the morning is worse of all. Pollen allergy affects millions of Americans each morning.
The common culprit in all of these attacks is histamine. A histamine is a chemical released by the body’s mast cells. It causes tissues that it comes in contact with to become swollen and inflamed. It’s this inflammation that causes many of the symptoms commonly associated with allergies. Histamines are often triggered by allergens.
When this happens, the body’s immune system, thinking that it is under attack, begins to fight back. It does this by releasing histamines. This aggressive immune response is what leads to the symptoms that we commonly recognize as allergy symptoms.
