The sound of a crackling fire can sooth the stress brought on by a hard day and there is no easier or more affordable way to enjoy an outdoor fire than to add a fire pit to an outdoor living space. There are a wide variety of fire pit styles available that can accent any outdoor decor. The most common styles can often be found at furniture stores, garden centers, and department stores, with customized styles available at both specialty retailers and online.

All styles of outdoor fire pits are designed to either burn wood or run on natural gas. Using wood as a fuel is economical, but creates the need to remove and dispose of the ashes left in the pit. The wide availability of wood makes it a more affordable choice to produce a flame, but requires a lot more maintenance and cleaning to keep the area clean, but the relaxing odor often associated with a wood fire is hard to reproduce with gas.
