While you’re masking your windows against unwanted attention, remember to include your conservatory – these glass rooms are very visible and often at the rear of the house, so if you use yours as a second sitting room or dining room and it contains all kinds of expensive and attractive accessories, stereo equipment or televisions, consider conservatory motorized window blinds. Not only will these shield your goods but blinds and voiles make it very hard for callers to see if someone is at home or not.

It just takes a little time and imagination to out-wit opportunist thieves, but some of it is common sense, and these security arrangements don’t have to be intrusive to your lifestyle or make you feel as if you’re living in a fortress.
